With UFC 275 on the horizon, fight fans are eagerly awaiting another night of electrifying action inside the Octagon. As champions defend their titles and rising stars aim to make their mark, the stakes have never been higher. From explosive knockouts to hard-fought submissions, every fight promises excitement and drama.
Main Event - Light Heavyweight Championship:
(C) Glover Teixeira (+170) vs. #2 Jiří Procházka (-200)
Glover Teixeira did the unthinkable by becoming the oldest UFC Champion in history. Glover has won his last six fights and has submitted four of those opponents and also hasn’t been finished since 2017. The last three wins have been the most notable with statements finishes over Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Jan Blachowicz. Jiří has only two fights in his UFC career, both spectacular knockouts of Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes. Jiří is a very wild and unpredictable fighter capable of knocking out their opponent with anything. However, Procházka’s ground game is very questionable and claims he doesn’t “play Jiu-Jitsu”. That quote will come back to haunt him as I believe Glover will weather the storm and eventually take Jiří down then submit him.
Prediction: Teixeira def. Procházka via Submission (Round 2)
Co-Main Event – Women’s Flyweight Championship:
(C) Valentina Shevchenko (-625) vs. (#4) Taila Santos (+450)
With Amanda Nunes recent loss to Julianna Pena, Shevchenko has now ascended to the #1 spot on the Women’s P4P list. “The Bullet” could be on upset watch against Taila Santos who has a very solid all-around fight style but we all know what will take place. Valentina will impose her will whether it be on the ground, in the clinch, stand-up, etc. Shevchenko will display a masterpiece against the up and coming prospect with a respectable 19-1 record.
Prediction: Shevchenko def. Santos (U. Dec.)
Women’s Strawweight Bout:
#2 Zhang Weili (-165) vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk (+140)
If this fight is anywhere near as good as their first fight, what a treat that would be. Weili and Joanna put forth perhaps the greatest fight in women’s combat sports in 2020. That fight will most definitely be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Crazy to think it has been over two years since that brawl. These two women are absolute warriors but ring rust is no myth. Weili has fought twice since their last fight while Joanna has taken time off. Sadly, this bout is only 3 rounds compared to 5 championship rounds in their first fight. Nonetheless it will be another war with the same outcome.
Prediction: Weili def. Jedrzejczyk (U. Dec.)
