NHL Playoff Headlines (Conference Semifinals)

As the NHL playoffs heat up, the intensity on the ice reaches is reaching a new level with some intense series. With all four matchups headed to 6 games (at least), every game becomes a battle of skill, determination, some cheap shots, and heart. From thrilling overtime victories to hard-hitting showdowns, each matchup brings fans us to the edge of our seat!

Rangers vs Hurricanes

Will the New York Rangers Blow a 3-0 Lead?

After being up 3 games to 0, the Rangers have now lost two in a row. Rangers faithful and New York City will be on the verge of a heart attack throughout tonight's Game 6 in Carolina. Rangers coach Peter Laviolette has admitted he is a bit concerned, stating that they didn't play with speed, didn't have the proper offensive attack, and lacked intensity. The Hurricanes have been dominating in 5 on 5, Frederik Andersen looks better compared to the start of the series, can New York hold the Hurricanes off for just one more win? Will the Rangers switch up their defense and pair K'Andre Miller back with Jacob Trouba?

Can the Boston Bruins flip the script on the Panthers?

Last year, the Bruins blew a 3-1 series lead to the Florida Panthers. This year, the Panthers held a 3-1 series lead over the Bruins. Could the opposite of last year happen? Jeremy Swayman backed up his words after the Game 4 loss, “The reality is that we're going to go to Florida and we're going to play the same game and we're going to get it done." We now head back to Boston for a Game 6 on Friday night. The Boston in me CANNOT WAIT for Friday night! The Garden will be rocking, Marchand will most likely be back, see you in Florida for Game 7!

Can Wyatt Johnston continue his tear?

The Dallas Stars feel like a team of destiny. 21-year-old Wyatt Johnston has been the star of the postseason, especially for the Dallas Stars. Johnston led the Stars in goals scored this season with 32, and has scored 7 in 12 games in this postseason. The Stars have the Avalanche on the brink of elimination (lead series 3-2). With a championship caliber goalie in Jake Oettinger, a rising star in Johnston alongside veteran Joe Pavelski, the Stars have a real shot.

Will the Edmonton Oilers ride with Calvin Pickard?

One thing that has been a constant in the McDavid-era for the Oilers, bad goaltending. For Game 4 against the Canucks, the Oilers started Calvin Pickard as their goalie who was making his first career postseason start. Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said "It looked like a guy who played 100 games." The Oilers should stick with Pickard and see if his hot start continues. Connor McDavid is the best hockey player in the world and is capable of anything. This loaded Oilers team should not lose to the Canucks, and frankly they should be able to make the Stanley Cup Final. With the series tied at 2-2, tonight's Game 5 is a pivotal one.
