NFL Week 7 Recap

Another chaotic week in the NFL! Russell Wilson makes his Steelers debut, Vikings lose their first game, the Giants look like the Giants of old, are the Patriots the NFL's worst team? We are now a quarter of the way through the 2024 season, what has stood out the most?

Marcus Mariota

The Buccaneers are in Trouble

After a promising start to the Monday Night game against Baltimore, it all went downhill from there. WR Mike Evans went down in serious pain with a hamstring injury, meanwhile fellow WR Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle and is out for the season. Arguably the best WR duo in the NFL, they have caught 50's of Baker Mayfield's league-leading 18 passing TD's. Losing one WR is already crushing, but losing BOTH is soul crushing. Trey Palmer, Sterling Shepard, and rookie Jalen McMillan have some big shoes to fill.

How will Washington's Offense look this week?

QB Marcus Mariota appears to be starting this week for the Commanders due to Jayden Daniels' rib injury. Last week against Carolina, Mariota replaced the injured Daniels and threw for 200 yards and 2 TD's. Can that continue this week against a tough Chicago Bears defense? A quick reminder, they played the lowly Carolina Panthers last week.

Russell Wilson is QB1 in Pittsburgh

Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin raised some eyebrows this week when he announced that Russell Wilson would be the starting QB against the New York Jets. After that perfromance by Russ, you can see why Tomlin named him the starter. Russ threw for 264 yards and 2 TD's, improving the Steelers record to 5-2. The defense shut down the Jets and their newly acquired star WR, Devonte Adams. Up next, a Monday Night matchup against the New York Giants.

Will the New England Patriots win another game this year?

Everything about this Patriots' team is bad, except the QB. Drake Maye has looked much better than people expected, throwing for 5 TD's in his first two games. To put that into perspective, Patrick Mahomes has only thrown for 6 TD's all season. The defense is dead last in most categories, which comes as a surprise considering how good last year's defense was. Jerod Mayo called the defense "soft" in a press conference earlier this week, which stirred up a little controversy. The Patriots have problems and issues in nearly all aspects of the organization, it wouldn't surprise me if they finish with the worst record in the league.
