NFL Week 4 Recap

Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season delivered big storylines as teams start to reveal their true identities.

The Saints came crashing back to earth after a hot start, while Jared Goff played lights-out football, leading the Lions with precision. The Dolphins' season is in serious doubt after a string of tough losses, but the Commanders continue to prove they’re a legitimate force. Meanwhile, all eyes are on the Jets as concerns grow about Aaron Rodgers' performance. Let’s break down the key moments and surprises from Week 4!

Jared Goff

Jared Goff Returns to form.

Jared Goff was perfect in the Monday Night win against the Seahawks, completing all 18 of his passes for 292 yards and 2 TD's. Although the Lions defense allowed 400 yards through the air to Geno Smith, the offense was superb. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 2 TD's while David Montgomery added one as well. Detroit now sits at 3-1 headed into their bye week, one game behind the undefeated Vikings atop the NFC North standings.

The Miami Dolphins are in trouble.

QB Tua Tagovailoa is on the IR once again due to a concussion, which means the Dolphins must look to their back-up QB's. Considering Tua's injury history, it would've made sense for Miami to invest in a servicable back-up QB. These past few games have shown Tua is not a system QB, he is simply the reason they are good. At 1-3, with no QB, the Dolphins have litte-to-no hope, especially if they lose to the New England Patriots this Sunday.

The Washington Commanders are legit.

I don't recall a time in my life reciting this statement. Jayden Daniels has turned this franchise around in such a short time, it's impressive. The Commanders offense has scored on nearly every single offense possesion this season, whether it be a TD or a FG. Daniels' is a serious dual-threat QB, it almost feels like we are watching Lamar Jackson. The Commanders offense has posted nearly 40 points per game in the last two weeks. Up next they've got Cleveland and Baltimore, it will be interesting to see how they handle the AFC North.

Should the Jets be concerned about Aaron Rodgers?

Besides the Thursday Night win over the New England Patriots, Aaron Rodgers has not looked the way we expected. Rodgers hasn't thrown for over 300 yards in 26 straight games, not ideal for one of the best QB's of all time. Just when everything was looking up for New York, reality hits. The Jets looked like the Jets of old this past Sunday, losing 10-9 in ugly fashion to the Denver Broncos. The Jets offense couldn't do anything, the rain wouldn't let up, and the defense lost to Bo Nix. Up next for New York, the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings. Time to see what Aaron Rodgers and Co. are made of.
