As the 2024 NFL season kicks off, all eyes are on the league's newest talent, as fans and analysts alike speculate on who will claim the coveted Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and Bo Nix are the favorites to win OROY. Each rookie is in their own unique spot with a huge opportunity. Who will makes the case to win OROY?
Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears (+120)
The number overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has an enormous amount of expectations. The pressue is through the roof for Williams but he is built for this moment. To be compared to Patrick Mahomes is quite a statement, although it sounds outlandish, Caleb has shown flashes of Mahomes-esque plays. In last weekends preseason game vs Cincinnati, Williams had a couple of plays that had NFL players tweeting that it reminded them of someone (...Mahomes). The drop off between the Caleb and the second-highest favorite (+600) is pretty significant. Bears GM Ryan Poles did a magnificent job surrounding his new QB with talent. Chicago has never had a 4,000 yard passer once in their over 100 years of being a team, that ends soon.
Jayden Daniels, QB, Washington Commanders (+600)
The Commanders are in a similiar situation as the Bears when it comes to franchise Quarterback's. Both have bad history and bad luck with QB's. Let's that doesn't continue with these two selections. In both preseason games, Jayden Daniels has showed why he was selected with the second overall pick. Daniels is 12 of 15 passes for 122 yards and rushed for one score in his two preseason games. With a proven WR in Terry McLaurin, they could be a duo to watch out for.
Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, Arizona Cardinals (+650)
Seeing Marvin Harrison Jr. as a top WR in the NFL truly makes me feel old. It feels like yesterday when his Dad was tearing up the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. My Patriots had many battles with Harrison and the Colts in the 2000's.
Marvin Harrison Jr was the perfect selection for the Arizona Cardinals and QB Kyler Murray. Kyler desperately needed a franchise wideout to revive his career, he got one. Outside of Caleb Williams, this is the bet to make for OROY. The Murray-Harrison duo will click instantly. Harrison Jr could be in for a Puka Nakua-Ja'Marr Chase type rookie season, watch out.
Bo Nix, QB, Denver Broncos (+1100)
Bo Nix, the number 12 pick in this year's draft, has exploded onto the scene in the preseason for the Denver Broncos. A sight Broncos fans have been waiting nearly a decade to see. There was a question as to whether who would start at QB for the Denver Broncos this year, but after Nix's performance in the past 2 games, he left no question. Nix threw 30 passes while completing 23 of them for 205 yards and 2 TD's. A few days ago Nix was named the Broncos starting QB, the first rookie to start a Broncos season opener since John Elway in 1983.
Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants (+1500)
The New York Giants and GM Joe Schoen had a tough decision to make in this year's draft. Stick with Daniel Jones at QB or draft a new one. They decided to stick with Daniel Jones and draft talent to surround him. I am not necessarily sure that was the right move but only time will tell. There is not doubt the Giants got themselves a major talent at WR in Malik Nabers, the man who throws him the football is the major question mark here. Daniel Jones has not looked the part in his preseason return from a torn ACL. It will be an interseting year in the Big Apple for sure, especially with the Jets.
Prediction: Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, Arizona Cardinals (+650)
