2023 MLB World Series Preview

Updated: May 16, 2024

Welcome to our World Series Preview. Just like we all predicted, the Texas Rangers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks! Of course I'm kidding, there is no chance anyone could've predicted this (show your ticket in the comments if so!). The Rangers lost 102 games just two years ago. The D-Backs also lost 110 games that same season. For them to both make it to the World Series is remarkable, regardless of the result. Arizona had the least amount of wins this season than any other team in the playoffs. Texas fell apart at the end of the regular season and lost their chance to win the AL West. The storylines for these teams can go on and on. No matter what is said, nobody expected this World Series matchup.

MLB Playoff bracket for the world series

Prediction:

Texas Rangers def. Arizona Diamondbacks in 6 games.

It's tough to pick a winner in this World Series, you can't go wrong. Both teams have refused to be put away, facing a 3-2 series deficit on the road in the LCS. The Diamondbacks continue to prove everyone wrong, but I am picking the Rangers to win their first World Series in franchise history. This will be a competitive World Series, don't expect any blowout games. The Rangers lineup has been on fire, especially Adolis Garcia. Garcia is my pick to win the World Series MVP, the home run machine will continue to rake in the Fall Classic. All in all, I think Arizona's pitching will have a difficult time stopping the Rangers lineup from scoring. If Texas gets early runs it will end well for them. The Rangers have a shaky bullpen so their starting rotation needs to be on their game (which I think they will). Nathan Eavoldi has been lights out his entire postseason career, we know what to expect from him. Jordan Montgomery has been tremendous as well, if I had to bet on it I would predict the Rangers to jump out to a 2-0 series lead because of the Eavoldi-Montgomery duo. Once the series shifts to the desert, the D-Backs face Jon Gray and Max Scherzer in Games 3 & 4. Arizona will tie up the series 2-2 with back to back wins. The Rangers take Game 5 on the road, then close it out at home in Game 6 with Eavoldi on the mound to capture their first World Series title.

World Series MVP:

Adolis Garcia, OF, Texas Rangers. (+550)
