2022 NFL Playoffs - Divisional Round Preview

Updated: May 16, 2024

As the NFL playoffs reach the Divisional Round, the stakes are higher than ever. With eight teams remaining, each game becomes a battle for survival on the road to the Super Bowl. From perennial contenders to surprising underdogs, the competition is fierce, and every play counts. Join us as we preview the upcoming matchups, analyzing the key storylines, matchups, and players that will shape this pivotal stage of the postseason.

Titans vs Bengals

Saturday 1/22, 4:30PM.

#4 Cincinnati Bengals (10-7) @ #1 Tennessee Titans (12-5)

Favorite: TEN (-3.5)

Money Line: TEN (-200) ; CIN (+175)

Over/Under: 47.0

Quite the intriguing matchup in the Music City this Saturday as the Bengals travel to Nashville for a Divisional Round game against the Titans. The Bengals have been on fire as of late with Joe Burrow finishing as a top 3 MVP candidate (DraftKings/Bleacher Report) and the Offensive Rookie of the Year in Ja’Marr Chase. The Burrow-Chase era has arrived a lot sooner than expected and man, are they fun to watch. Trey Hendrickson is currently questionable which could be a big factor on the Bengals D-Line. The Tennessee Titans are the #1 seed in the AFC. Derrick Henry has been activated off of the IR and is eligible to play but his playing status is still unknown, I assume he will play. D’Onta Foreman has stepped up big time in Henry’s absence, Mike Vrabel is a Coach of the Year candidate, and the defense has been superb. Last year in Week 8 the Bengals came out victorious against Tennessee. This year’s result will be different though.

Prediction: TEN (-3.5) ; Titans def. Bengals 27-23

Packers vs 49ers

Saturday 1/22, 8:15PM

#6 San Francisco 49ers (10-7) @ #1 Green Bay Packers (13-4)

Favorite: GB (-6.0)

Money Line: GB (-260) ; SF (+210)

Over/Under: 47.0

The San Francisco 49ers rolled into Arlington, Texas with swag and took out the Cowboys 23-17. The 49ers defense shut down the Dallas offense for the most part. CeeDee Lamb was held to one catch, Zeke only had 31 rushing yards, and Dak only threw for 1 TD. Credit to the Niners defense, if they can shut down the Packers at Lambeau they can beat anybody. Shutting down Aaron Rodgers at home is quite a difficult task, I’m not sure if they can complete that task. The likely back-to-back NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers (Tom Brady should be this year’s MVP, if you ask me.) wants to avenge his 2019 NFC Championship loss to the Niners. Rodgers and Davonte Adams will put on fireworks in the 16-degree weather and advance to the NFC Championship game for a rematch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Prediction: GB (-6.0) ; Packers defeat 49ers 34-24.

Bucs vs Rams

Sunday 1/23, 3:00PM

#4 Los Angeles Rams (12-5) @ #2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4)

Favorite: TB (-3.0)

Money Line: TB (-150) ; LA Rams (+130)

Over/Under: 48.5

The reigning Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue their quest to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champions since the 2003-2004 New England Patriots. They face a very tough LA Rams team that they previously lost to 34-24, back in Week 3. Matt Stafford tore up the Bucs defense throwing for 4 TD’s. Tom Brady threw for 432 yards but only 1 TD. Both teams are coming off blowout wins in their Wild Card game, this game will be the farthest thing from a blowout. The Rams defensive line is perhaps the best in the NFL along with Jalen Ramsey in the secondary. This time around the Rams don’t have to worry about Chris Godwin (Torn ACL) and Antonio Brown (Clown) but we all know not to doubt Tom Brady. Tampa’s defense will be a different team than they were in Week 3, they are playing at home, and they have Tom Brady as their QB. Fire the cannons.

Prediction: TB (-3.0) ; Buccaneers def. Rams 28-20.

Chiefs vs Bills

Sunday 1/23, 6:30PM.

#3 Buffalo Bills (11-6) @ #2 Kansas City Chiefs (12-5)

Favorite: KC (-1.5)

Money Line: KC (-125) ; BUF (+105)

Over/Under: 54.5

Bills Mafia is coming off of one of their most important playoff victories in franchise history, finally defeating (more of embarrassing) the New England Patriots 47-17. The Bills offense had the football seven times and scored a TD all seven times. Buffalo needs to put that in the rear-view mirror and look forward to their rematch from last year’s AFC Championship game. If they want to continue their revenge tour they need to go into Arrowhead and defeat Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, something only Tom Brady has done. Yes, Buffalo steamrolled the Chiefs at Arrowhead in Week 5 but the playoffs are always a different story. Mahomes and Kansas City beat the brakes off of the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday and have won 10 of their last 11 games. The Chiefs are on a roll and it continues when the Bills Mafia comes to town. KC will punch their ticket to Nashville for the AFC Championship game.

Prediction: KC (-1.5) ; Chiefs def. Bills 33-30.
